We are super lucky to have Ahmed with us for at least a short while during his role as interim director of the Patricelli Center. Ahmed’s story is fascinating as he tells it – from Baghdad, Iraq, to Syria, and eventually to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, of all places! He’ll be a wonderful friend of the Global Engagement Minor for a couple different reasons. He does a great job modeling the art of telling one’s story and my hope is that he’ll join us in the fall of 2023 during CGST 205 when it’s time to tell our own stories. He can also introduce us to a critically important part of the world that is less commonly addressed in US primary and secondary education. And finally, he has a lot of connections to the United Nations and will help us become more integrated with its work – I’ll be attending the ECOSOC conference with him and a few of our outstanding students in April, 2023. I’ll get to learn about that event for future engagement, as well as meet some Wes alums that work there and in related roles.
